We’re always excited to see what’s happening in tech and last week’s London Tech Week didn’t disappoint. The jet-powered real-life Iron Man flight suit was certainly eye-catching. Some have even said it was the best thing to come out of this year’s show. However, there were lots of interesting events taking place throughout the week. These included the ‘Innovation through Interconnection’ event held by our client Equinix. This event focused on the UK’s growing digital economy, as demands for connectivity have risen and the cloud takes precedence (keep your eyes peeled for a separate blog post on that).
Kicking off the festival on Monday, Sadiq Khan announced plans for a new project – Better Futures – which will see the government invest £1.6m in 100 London based start-ups to help fight the ongoing battle against climate change.
Discussing our need to reduce our negative impact on our environment, Khan stated: “The potential for cutting-edge technology to tackle a host of social, economic and environmental challenges is immeasurable. From air pollution and climate change to housing and transport, new technologies and data science will be at the heart of the long-term solutions to urban challenges.”
It’s great to see political figures acknowledging the power of tech. We also can’t wait to see what tech these start-ups come up with.
Here’s to a cleaner London and going green!
